Founded in March 2025, Green Flame was established to address two compounding challenges facing Uganda: the progressive deforestation driven by traditional charcoal demand, and the growing energy access gap in urban and peri-urban communities.
Our manufacturing facility at Bweya Airfield Road operates a compression-and-drying process that converts locally sourced agricultural and sorted municipal organic waste — sawdust, biomass fibre, and carbonised organic matter — into high-density briquettes engineered for consistent calorific output.
Every kilogram of Green Flame briquettes represents waste biomass diverted from open burning, distributed to households, restaurants, bakeries, poultry farms, schools, and small industries in place of wood charcoal derived from deforested land.

04 / Manufacturing Process
Agricultural residues — sawdust, biomass fibre, and carbonised organic matter — are sourced from local processing operations, diverting waste from open burning.
Raw biomass is prepared and blended with natural binders to achieve optimal cohesion and calorific density in the final product.
Prepared material is fed through a mechanical compression press that extrudes high-density sticks and discs under controlled pressure, forming the briquette profile.
Freshly formed briquettes are laid on wooden mesh drying frames in open-sided sheltered facilities. Target moisture content: under 12% prior to dispatch.
Batches are inspected for structural integrity, ignition profile, and burn consistency before being cleared for packaging.
Approved product is bagged and dispatched to clients across Kampala and greater Wakiso district on a scheduled delivery basis.
